80’s IKEA ‘Niklas’ Modular Shelving System

Versatile and reconfigurable shelving system from IKEA’s Niklas series, designed by Rutger Andersson. This rare vintage piece combines Scandinavian design with functional adaptability, making it equally suitable as a shelving display, storage solution, or workstation.

The unit features minimalist black tubular steel ladder supports paired with birch wood veneer shelves and cabinets. The shelves are height-adjustable, while the ladder supports include height-adjustable feet for stability on uneven floors.
Easily reconfigured to suit your space – use it as a wall-spanning storage system, an organized workstation, or break it down into smaller standalone sections.

Condition

Overall in very good vintage condition with light, age-appropriate wear. The wood veneer surfaces are clean and well-presented, with only minor marks and a few surface scratches consistent with gentle use. Some subtle color variations and impressions are visible on several shelves (see photos), but these do not detract from the overall presentation.

The black tubular steel supports are sturdy and largely show minimal wear, though some rungs display areas of paint flaking. 
All original components and parts are present and accounted for. No major damage, structural issues, or replacements noted. The piece presents beautifully and is ready for use.
