Clement MEADMORE - DC 601A chair

An important example of Australian mid-century modern design, the DC 601A chair was designed by celebrated Australian sculptor and designer Clement Meadmore and manufactured by Michael Hirst Pty Ltd in Melbourne.

Created in 1957, its slender steel frame and bold, sculptural silhouette demonstrate Meadmore’s ability to bring the same clarity and spatial tension found in his artwork into functional design.

The DC 601A is represented in the National Gallery of Victoria’s permanent collection, making this a genuine piece of Australian design history as well as a striking standalone chair. NGV collection

Condition consistent with age no significant damage and wonderful example only missing the cushion.The chair junction has some slight damage to powdercoat as shown (No damage to original structure)
